Last updated: March 25, 2023

There are still a lot of people who do not put a PC password on their account Windows 11 and I might as well tell you straight away, it’s a mistake! Indeed, you expose yourself a lot.

Today, laptops in particular follow us everywhere. On these computers, we can then find quite a few sensitive elements. We have work files or even personal files.

Except that quite logically, we do not want these files to fall into the hands of just anyone. This is why in this article, we will guide you to set up a PC password on Windows 11.

Mistakes to avoid for a PC password

First of all, we must return to one point. Just because you are going to restrict access to your machine does not mean that no one will be able to access it. Indeed, either your PC password is not strong enough, it will not last long.

In itself, no combination, even random, is impassable. Just be aware that there are a few mistakes to avoid that will make the task much more complicated for anyone who wants to break into your computer.

Thus, avoid the great classics such as 000 or even 111 which are extremely easy to guess. Also avoid anything that revolves around birthdays, which are easily found information.

You could even say that the best thing is a series of numbers and letters that has no meaning. These are clearly the hardest pc passwords to find and therefore the ones that protect you best.

Management software so you don't forget anything

Except that you probably tell us that it's good, but that these passwords are starting to become very numerous. Well, know that there are safe systems for the latter.

These are software where you will be able to store all your passwords and where you will therefore only need one to enter and access all the others. In addition, these software also often offer random generators for greater security.

Obviously, this software has a cost, but if you want to protect your data effectively, it is one of the most practical means that currently exists on the data protection market. For more details, see our article: The 5 Best Password Managers in 2023.

If this is not the case, you can set up a PIN code which will allow you to lock access to certain folders. It is therefore a complementary measure to what we have just seen.

To do this, follow the same path as before. Except this time, scroll through the options until you come across those of Windows Hello. there you will see if it is possible to activate the digital reader or facial recognition.

A little further down you will find the option to configure the PIN code. Choose it and connect with your mot de passe Windows. Then, as we saw previously, enter the PIN code twice to validate the procedure.

For this one, you can just go with the numbers. But if you want to secure it even more, you can check the box to allow letters and symbols. That's it, you now know how to put a password and a PIN code on Windows 11 !
