HackBBS: Test Your Hacking Skills

Last updated: January 20, 2023

Computer security is a constantly evolving field. It is important for professionals and enthusiasts to stay up to date with the latest trends and techniques.

A few days ago, a well-known computer security site published a list of online communities offering resources to learn and practice computer security, including courses and ethical hacking challenges.

Among all the options offered, one in particular stood out and caught my attention: hackbbs.org. That's why in this article we are going to talk about HackBBS.

What is HackBBS?

HackBBS is a community-based online forum that focuses on computer security and technology. Indeed, it brings together a diverse community of experts and enthusiasts. They regularly share their knowledge and experiences to help users understand computer security concepts.

The forum is divided into sections for different computer security topics:

  • Web security.
  • Network security.
  • Operating system security.
  • Mobile security.

There are also sections for general technology discussions and security news debates.

How to use HackBBS?

To take full advantage of all the resources offered, it is recommended to register on the site, and fortunately, it is completely free. Registration does not require any binding formalities.

Once registered, you will have access to a dedicated server for computer security practice, logic challenges, cracking, code disassembly and many fun tests suitable for all levels.

It is also advisable to use Firefox, a browser specially designed for hackers, which contains extensions that will facilitate your activities on the site.

Here is, as an example, a screenshot of the challenges page (challenges shown in green are the ones I managed to solve)

The hacking techniques presented on the site are very varied. They require both logic and deduction.

HackBBS is therefore for people who want to devote themselves seriously and not to individuals who are simply looking to "hack their friend's computer with software".

Also, for basic levels, security rules are provided, such as never trust data sent by clients.

In addition to this, an active and large community is present on the site. They offer forum discussions and hacking software for download.
