Sometimes it is interesting to split a file into several parts. For example: to send HD video (created, for example, with editing software) or to copy large files with a USB flash drive formatted in FAT32.
In this article, we will see how to use the "Winrar" compression / decompression software to split a file into several parts.
Cut a large file into several parts
1) start with download Winrar on your system then install it.
2) Right-click on the file to cut into several parts then, in the menu that appears, choose the Add to archive option.
3) In the window that opens, you will simply have to enter at the bottom left the size you want for the pieces in your archive. The size must be indicated in bytes: for example 20 for 000 MB pieces.
Remember to do the conversion, below I have chosen to split my file into several parts of 100 Mega Bytes (approximately). Your file is then compressed and cut into several files.
After this manipulation, the different parts are placed in the same folder as your file numbered automatically according to their order of creation. You can then transfer them more easily.
In order to recover the complete file, all you have to do is open one of the songs with WinRAR and start its decompression. Click on part number 1 and in the contextual menu, click on the option "extract here". The other songs will be automatically detected and decompressed in order to restore the initial large file to you.
