Apple officially presented the iPhone 13! Design, Screen, Performance, Camera, Battery life, here's everything you need to know about the latest iPhones.

Like last year, Apple presented four iPhone models as part of its September 14 event: iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max. In general, everything has improved, the latest generation is rather a small update compared to the iPhone 12 series, but a special feature awaits you in the Pro versions.

Design & Interface

In terms of design, the 2021 iPhone lineup looks almost identical to the existing iPhone 12, although slightly thicker and heavier to accommodate larger batteries. Apple has also shrunk the size of the notch by 20% in terms of width.

Models ofiPhone 13 are offered in sizes 5,4 and 6,1 inches,13-inch iPhone 5,4 Pro being positioned as Apple's smallest iPhone.

In summary, here are the screen diagonals of iPhone 13 :

  • 13 iPhone Mini : 5,4 inches
  • iPhone 13 : 6,1 inches
  • iPhone 13 Pro : 6,1 inches
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max : 6,7 inches

While the iPhone 12 mini reportedly saw lower demand than Apple expected, the form factor remains in place for another year, with Apple officially introducing the iPhone 13 mini.

Compared to the iPhone 12 lineup, the iPhone 13 and 13 mini are thicker and heavier.

The iPhone 13 mini QUOTE 13,15cm high, 6,42cm wide et 7,65 mm thickr, while theiPhone 13 QUOTE 14,67cm high, 7,15cm wide et 7,65 mm d'épaisseur.

The mini is the lightest phone in the iPhone 13 range at 141 grams, followed by the iPhone 13 at 174 grams.

The Screen

The iPhone 13 Pro et Pro Max finally offer iPhone users a screen feature that flagship phones Android have had: higher refresh rates for a long time. Apple's branding for its display is " Super Retina XDR display ProMotion", and the important part is the ProMotion, which previously only existed on the iPad Pro.

Historically, theiPhone was able to refresh its screen to 60 Hz (or 60 times per second), but the new iPhone 13 Pro can vary refresh rates by 10 Hz to 120 Hz. Apple uses a type of OLED display called an LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) panel, a technology first seen on Samsung phones. It offers a wide dynamic range and can get much brighter and consumes less power because it allows the refresh rate to be reduced.

Concretely, this means that scrolling and animations are much smoother. Battery life is also improved, because if nothing is moving on the screen, it has to be refreshed less often and therefore consumes less power.

However, iPhone 13 and 13 mini are not entitled to this refresh technology. Indeed, they embark like their predecessors, a OLED display with limited refresh at 60 Hz.

Performances

All models ofiPhone 13 use the new Apple A15 chip. It offers performance and efficiency improvements over the A14 chip used in the iPhone 12. There are two performance cores and four efficiency cores, and the A15 chip in the iPhone 13 models is not surpassed only by the version of the iPhone 13 Pro models.

La A15 chip de l 'iPhone 13 et 13 mini has a 4-core GPUEither one heart less than that of liPhone 13 Pro et Pro Max. This is why the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max offer the fastest GPU performance, but the standard iPhone 13 models aren't far behind.

The models iPhone 13 Pro offer 50% faster graphics performance compared to the iPhone 12 Pro models, while the iPhone 13 offer 15% faster graphics performance.

As for the processor, the iPhone 13 models are around 10% faster in single-core performance and around 18% faster in multi-core performance compared to the iPhone 12 models.

The camera

The Phone 13 offers a camera configuration somewhat similar to that of the iPhone 12. Both smartphones feature a wide-angle camera and an ultra-wide-angle lens de 12 megapixels each.

The 12 MP main camera got a new sensor with larger pixels and premium sensor-shift stabilization. He now uses a larger Sony sensor with 1,7 µm pixels (compared to 1,4 µm on the iPhone 12).

While the secondary camera is identical to that of the iPhone 12: 12 MP with 1,0 µm pixels and a 14 mm f/2,4 lens for ultra-wide photos. The focus is fixed and there is no stabilization.

The updated ultra-wide camera delivers better low-light performance, and the wide camera lets in 47% more light.

Apple says this stabilizes the sensor rather than the lens so shots are steadier, while the custom-designed ultra-wide camera with a new sensor captures images with more detail in dark areas photos and videos with less noise.

About the models Pro and Pro Max, there are notable differences from theiPhone 13. The main sensor and that of the ultra wide angle are even larger for the pleasure of photo enthusiasts. In addition, both versions have a third lens like the previous iPhone Pro and Pro max.

Autonomy & Storage

Apple included larger batteries on the iPhone 13 compared to last year's iPhone 12 series. If you are wondering which phone has the greater battery increase, that would be theiPhone 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 mini also benefits from a battery gain of almost 10% compared to the 12 mini.

Indeed, the new batteries integrated into the iPhone 13 promise a usage time of 90 to 150 additional minutes, which is not negligible for those who use their iPhone at maximum performance.

In terms of storage, this changes with the iPhone 13. Instead of offering 64 GB as the base storage tier, as was the case for the latest iPhone models, Apple increased the base capacity from'iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini at 128 GB. And the iPhone 13 Pro models, who continue to offer 128 GB of capacity in their own entry-level model, add a 1TB option for buyers who never have enough storage.
