Thursday August 13, Apple has withdrawn Fortnite de its App Store after that the company Epic implemented a new way to buy V-Bucks - the real money currency of Fortnite - bypassing Apple's payment system.
While Apple has always charged developers a 30% commission for their sales in the App Store, Epic Games has broken this rule.
Why did Epic bypass Apple's system?
Epic Games explains that Apple's 30% charge on each transaction prevents it from lower prices for the benefit of players.
In its complaint, Epic also explains: “ Apple has become what it once rebelled against: the juggernaut who seeks to control markets, block competition and stifle innovation. Apple is bigger, more powerful, more stable and more pernicious than the monopolies of yesteryear. With a market capitalization of nearly $ 2 billion, Apple's size and reach far exceeds that of any technology monopoly in history.
