A friend of yours sent you the link to a great promo for a week's vacation in the Maldives at an unprecedented price. He tells you to hurry, the offer expires in 10 minutes! You draw your credit card without the slightest hesitation. Then you click on the link. 5 seconds of waiting… nothing. Go, it's going to do it. 10 seconds of waiting… still nothing. Stress begins to take hold of you. 20 seconds is the drama. A blank page appears on your smartphone screen with the sentence in the center: ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT.
Don't panic, I'll explain how to fix this error and thus enjoy your vacation.
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT: what is it?
The best way to solve a problem is to understand the origin. The ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT error on Android is quite common. It usually happens when we try to connect to a web page from one of the browsers on our smartphones.
At the time of connection, your browser cannot reach the respective page. After multiple tries, it simply tells you that the page connection timeout has expired, and that it has failed to open it.
Check if you have a good internet connection
You have a mobile data plan, or a Wi-Fi connection at your home, then what's the problem? Sometimes your connection can become unstable. Depending on which one you are using when the error appears, you just need to switch from the " connection of your mobile ».
Close open apps and tabs
The slowdown, and therefore the error message, can come from too much stress on your smartphone. The proliferation of open applications (which use bandwidth) or tabs in your browser could create system saturation.
Remember to close the applications that you no longer use.
Make sure you don't have too muchopen tabs on your browser (Seriously? Do you really need 50 pages open at the same time?).
Improve the performance of your smartphone
Most Android smartphones offer a feature in their menu that lets you know the level of performance of the system. Below 90%, it will be necessary to consider an intervention, which can be done by a simple click.
Clear your browser cache
The cache is all the information recorded by your browser about your use. This can prevent the page from loading correctly.
Chrome being the most used browser, I will present the manipulations for the latter. The principle remains the same for any other browser.
- From the browser, go to the Parameters of the application.
- Select the menu Confidentialité et sécurité.
- Press Clear browsing data.
- Choose the period (default: All data) and the items you want to delete. All you have to do is press Erase data.
- Relaunch the browser.
And now, voila. the ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT error message should disappear to make room for the page you want to go to.
Now that I've saved your trip to the Maldives, don't hesitate to book a week for me in the process!
