YouTube uses this history to bring you new videos or to encourage you to watch old videos again. How about cleaning up the YouTube history a bit?
Here is how to clean your YouTube account history or stop collecting data about you.
Clear the history of a single video viewed
If you just want to delete the few cartoons or videos of cats watched by the youngest in order to give the recommendations a little more consistency,
- Go to YouTube from your browser.
- Tap the icon with the three bars ≡ next to the YouTube logo to deploy the left pane.
- Click History to view all videos viewed.
- Tap the cross at the top right of a video.
Delete all YouTube history
On iPhone or Android
- Launch the YouTube app
- Go to Library> History
- Press the menu ⋮ at the top right
- Tap History settings
- Tap Clear search history
- To also clear the history of watched videos, tap Clear history of watched videos
On the Web
- Go to YouTube from your browser
- Click on the icon with the three bars ≡ next to the YouTube logo to deploy the left pane
- In the right pane, check History to bring up three options under live chat.
- Then click Clear all history of watched videos to leave no trace of your views.
- To also delete the search history, check research history then click Clear all search history.

- Launch the YouTube app
- Go to Library> History
- Then in the menu ⋮ at the top right
- Go to History settings
- Tap Turn off search history
- Tap Turn off the history of watched videos
On the Web
- In the left pane, this time click Activity Controls.
- Find the YouTube search history section
- Set the cursor to the left so that YouTube never saves your requests
