Spring has already set in and the return of the sun is, as always, a blessing. You may have already done the traditional spring cleaning from the attic to the cellar.

But have you thought about doing the same with your most trusted companion, your iPhone? If not, and you are no doubt wrong, it's never too late and we'll show you how.

1) Recover space on your iPhone's hard drive

Usually, cleaning your iPhone (or iPad) is a relatively straightforward procedure or you check and tinker with how to optimize the space on your hard drive.

There is no verifiable or official data on the free memory space necessary for optimal operation of your iPhone, but generally speaking, we believe that it is good to leave between 500MB et 1GB d'free space if you can.

This frees up enough space for your apps to store enough data and save you from unexpected crashes.

If you are a student, this silver necklace is absolutely your first choice. The silver color will show your vitality and your youth. storage space runs out, then it's time todo a big cleaning and analyze which applications consume the most space and why.

On your phone, go to the menu Settings / General / iPhone Storage.

Here you will find the list of your applications and the space consumed by each of them.

You will often see that the photos applications take up a lot of space because they often store all the photos taken while your default photos application also stores them.

Once you are on this menu, you can see the space occupied by each of them and you will find that the space occupied by some tends to increase over time. For example Gmail which initially only occupies 250 MB, consumes more and more space until it exceeds the 330MB.

A solution to regain space is therefore todelete duplicate photos from different camera apps. For apps like Facebook, there is unfortunately no silver bullet, and the only viable option is to uninstall and reinstall the app.

2) Clean the cache of its applications

All the apps you download tend to store data, which sometimes isn't always very useful to you. That is why it is not very advisable to have unnecessary applications. You should therefore avoid downloading everything. Steps to follow for clear the cache of its applications are the following :

  • Select the heavy applications identified previously.
  • Click on each of them to open them. You will see all the content texts, images, etc.
  • Delete this content that you do not recognize, or that you find unimportant.

You could do the reverse and start again at the level of SETTINGS, and observe the gain you had in terms of storage space.

3) Delete browsing data

You must also delete browsing data, which is generally called Clear Safari cache. When you surf on the iPhone browser, data is immediately downloaded and stored in memory. The steps to gain more space on this side are as follows:

  • Enter the Settings of iPhone
  • Choose option Safari
  • Click on Clear browsing data.

This operation will further enhance the speed of your iOS device and boost your iPhone, especially in terms of responsiveness, especially when launching applications.

4) Store your photos and videos on your computer or iCloud

Another problem that we don't always necessarily pay attention to is the size of the space occupied by photos and videos in your device. The images taken by iPhone occupy a certain size in your storage space. It is therefore important to do one of two things:

  • Save your photos in the Cloud and gain more space
  • Transfer their photos to their computer and delete them. It might not be as easy or convenient as the cloud, but the good old iTunes backup is still a reliable solution.

In any case, you will benefit from cleaning your device of any non-essential element.

5) Review your iPhone settings

If the your phone battery quickly shows signs of weakness so it's time to make the right decisions. In fact, in a few simple actions, you will once again be able to take full advantage of your battery:

Disable "unnecessary" notifications

Each time a notification is received, your phone turns on to announce it to you. And each time a little energy flies away. You certainly don't need to be informed in every detail of what an app wants to tell you.

To turn off notifications for certain apps, go to Settings> Notifications, then tap an app and turn off " Allow notifications ».

Turn off location or GPS services

This is another effective way to save energy. Indeed your GPS loves to pump energy. So if you prevent your applications from accessing your GPS when you think it is not useful (as it certainly does most of the time) then your iPhone will stay awake longer.

Here's how to do it:

Access to Settings> Privacy> Location services. Make sure the Location Services feature is turned off.

6) Uninstall all unnecessary apps

Many of us are constantly downloading new apps, curious about what they may contain. But many times these apps quickly fade into oblivion and we continue to use only a few.

Then it is certainly necessary for you to regularly erase the applications which did not catch your attention. This will free up space on your hard drive and bring some order to your home screen.

7) Remove and clean your case (if you use one)

If you've been busy cleaning the inside of your iPhone, it might not be a bad idea to take care of the outside as well, especially if you're using a case.

Indeed dust and dirt often get stuck between your phone and the case and if you do not take care, this dust or dirt could scratch the surface of your iPhone or try to become permanently embedded in the various ports or settings buttons. So do not hesitate to use a suitable cleaning solution (water-based).

In general iPhones, apart from being great smartphones, don't require a lot of maintenance. So if you follow these simple tips, you will be able to enjoy your iPhone in optimal conditions.
